I found this while looking on the web today. It would be a nice thing to have if it would ever snow.

I have seen that before. I don't know when the n model fords came out, but I don't think it was in the 20's, maybe the 40's

I can remember my grandpas neighbor had a old pickup with a radial engine out of an airplane mounted in the bed with a propeller. The wheels had been replaced by skis. He used to run up and down the river on it. He also ended up buying about the first real snowmobile made. It was an artic cat made almost entirely out of plywood. It had the motor in the back and the track cleats were wood. I havent been to that area for about 15 years since my grandparents died but last i was there he still had it and it looked like new. We actually had the first snowmobile in the town we lived in. It was a 1963 skidoo. an awesome 8hp! Skidoo should have gave us that machine for all the sales it generated.

It's always amazed me how folks have been able to adapt machinery to the prevailing conditions. In northern Maine I've seen examples of 4x4 Model A pickups, Model A's with track rigs on the rear and skis on the front, Lombard Log Haulers with tracks, snow rollers pulled by horses and all manner of home made snow machines. When times get tough, we invent a solution! Ever seen a DC3 on floats? I think the Folsom plane is the only one still in existence.

If the tubes were sealed and the spread was wide enough with a pto shaft you could use it as a boat as well. I saw a new version of one of those awhile back one a show about the artic exploration.

I saw that video also. Such a simple design. Now crank some 450 hp monster and watch that sucker take off. Frank
