I got a nice 6 cavity mold from Ranch Dog. It's been modified to plain base, a 50 gr. RF tumble lube style. I've been reading up, so far it looks like Bullseye is the place to start. Anybody?

Start at 1.5 gr and work up (based on my loads with the 225415 sans GC) untill accuracy get s good then goes south, I'm sure you'll know when to quit in there..........

Hello, dualsport. I cast a softer alloy than lino (steriotype & pure lead) in my Hornet & .222 Rem. I had Fred Leeth of Pioneer products make up two identical 52gr. nose-pour moulds..plain-base & g.c. Now for plain accuracy..not velocity, I have found the p.b. likes 7.0gr H4227...the g.c.? only .3gr. more. I have tried the faster pistol & shotgun powders, but my best accuracy has always been with H4227.

Thankyou gentlemen. That's what I'll start with, 1.5 BE and 7 4227. I made up a couple dummy rounds for my Vanguard. It's a .223, 12" twist. After a gentle squeeze in a Lee Collet Die the RDs slide in the necks like a custom fit. With the base of the boolit still in the neck they engrave slightly on the rifling. Looks like I won't have to size the RDs, just tumble lube. Hopefully I will get to the range soon to try them out, I've been lame for ten days with a football injury. (I threw my back out watching the 49ers lose!) I'm also going to try a slight crimp from a Lee Factory Crimp Die, vs. uncrimped, see if it makes a difference.
