I am starting to work up loads for a Marlin 1895 guide gun, it is 45-70 and kicks a bit, can anyone tell me what size slip on pad to use. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Don't mess with a slip on, get a Limbsaver! I have several Rem700s and the R3 pad fitted to them is a Limbsaver, my 7lb 375H&H with full house jacketed 270Gn bullets kicks like a mule, but that pad soaks it up and my shoulder isn't troubled at all.

My 444 with full power loads is a PITS (pain in the shoulder), and a headache stab as well, it is about to get a Limbsaver. Money well spent, the few extra dollars easily absorbed over the life of the rifle.

Question:
I too have seen the Limbsaver pads listed to fit 1895 Guide guns. Do these require a sand-to-fit, or are they a direct screw-on? (assuming an oem stock)
Thanks in advance,

They work so well, you have to try them to fully appreciate them. If you are going to fit one, get a video before and after! I plan on fitting one to the 444. Thta mean lil' SOB gives me a headache stab with every shot of Hornady 265 (or 275)Gn factory ammo that I got with the rifle. I'd hate to be on the other end, lol!
