Got a lot of both dies to offer. Thought I would post some pics of the differences. Both dies make great bullets. Mine is made from heat treated 4140 tool steel. Ch is made from case hardened 12L14. Both dies will make a life time supply of great bullets.

BTSniper
.250 meplat

It's almost ready :)

Got to send my BTSniper dies off for heat treat. Goal is to start shipping My BTSniper dies first part of March or sooner.

The improved CH dies are ready now and can ship in as few as two weeks or less. Matter of fact I have a couple of these going out to cutomers this week.

Brian,
If mine are among the ones ready to ship, please feel free to ship to me in Maine. I'm here for a few weeks more.....

Please recall that I returned my .40 one step set for you to make the shorter nose (larger meplat)

My presses (including the one with the slightly small ram) are packed, so it will be a while before I can return that to you.

Looks good Brian!

Haven't been keeping up, I figure from Duke's post that you can modify
the older BT dies to make the new nose shape?

I like the huge HP from the original dies, but the new ogive looks like it would
feed fine in just about anything.
And it's shorter, I assume the same trim length for both before swaging?

Maybe tomorrow I'll search and read more about them.

I modify the old CH 40 cal die to have a new .281 diameter nose. The original CH 40 cal die has a .250 nose which equaled a nose length that was almost to long for the loaded case. By boreing the old nose from .250 to .281 it effectivly reduced the length of the nose of the bullet allowing proper seating of the bullet in the case.

This is a bit exaggerated (a trimmed nose from early experiments) but shows how we shorten the length of the nose of the bullet by making the meplat bigger.

I can not modify the nose ogive shape of the Ch dies. Instead I made my own dies with the round ogive, shorter nose and .250 meplat.

I had to read that a couple times, couldn't figure "bigger is shorter".
Then it hit me, if the meplat is larger diameter, the cavity has more volume.
So you have to adjust the nose punch IN to take up that volume.

Do you trim the cases shorter now?

Well the old ones are fine but if I win at poker, strike gold, sell the wife, etc.,
I'll let you know, might like to have the new style die too!
Still thinking about that notch die...

No, there's no need to trim the brass shorter. I stuff a 105 grain 380 auto bullet in as a core, and swage, and I get a 165 grain HP, which is exactly the same weight as the carry rounds I practice with. If you use a 124 grain core (9mm), you get the heavier 187 grain finished weight.

The wider meplat gives a perfect bullet length for the .40 S&W.

I will say that anyone making these for the 10mm will want the longer version, with the smaller meplat. The longer ones are perfect for the 10mm. I'm sure Brian has the sets in both configurations.
