I am looking for a recoil pad for my CB that will add a little length and tame recoil.
I was recommend a limbsaver screw on intended for a Rem870, but that one is undersized. I then bought a small limbsaver grind to fit but that one is way to big. A little help recommending a pad would be greatly appreciated.

I have monkey arms and need the inch. I use Hogue grind to fit. I like them and they have held up very well. I re-do wood when I do it. Might take a while if going to fit up without touching finish. Gtek

Yeah I am over 6ft and the extra inch feels great.

The end of my Marlin stock measures 1.6" x 4.73" Hogues small grind to fit measures 1.68" x 5.3" which is actually longer then the Limbsaver grind to fit that I already have. Thanks for the recommendation but it looks like I'll need something a little closer.

Thanks for the link, I did not realize you could grind them down that much. I'll have to give it a try over the weekend.

2A: I used a Pachmayer Decelerator on my CB it came out nice and it was a grind to fit. Probably took 1/4" total off all sides.

Just make sure you use a new belt on your belt sander. Old worn out belts will rub instead of cutting, and this generates heat and eventually ruins the pad. A new belt cuts clean and you get a much better finish.

I also went so far as to buy one of those pad grinding fixtures from Midway or Brownells. It makes the job really easy and the results are much better.

I also included about a 2* tilt into my grinding table. This gives you a little more surface area on the rear end of the pad which spreads things out a little more. It looks cool too. The pics shows it pretty good.

Take it down to about 95 percent with belt and finish with 180 or 220 grit on hand buzz sander. Gtek
