As I stated earlier, I do not have access to a lathe or machinist, but I do have an idea, that I would like to bounce around. Say for a .30 caliber check, and doing the making by hand. Has anyone considered using Lee sizing dies for a base for cutting the disks and forming the check?

Say a .410 die for cutting the disk and a .309 or .310 die with a inserted rod to form a base and say a .270-.280 punch.

Just pondering in my mad inventor mode.

you can make a disk punch with a drill and a hack saw.

Hey Ray,

I’m using a 13/32 drill rod which punches a .4062 diameter disk. I’ve also found that a 9/32 drill rod pushing this disk through a .309 forming die with .016 aluminum creates a very well fitting GC for the series of LEE .30 cal. Boolits.

Also, do a forum search for tshrcav8r and his "Low Budget $6 check maker".

I have been searching high and low for the Lee Dies used in sizing, but so far they are escaping me.

Check Midway, Grafs, Lee's web site, Factory sales. I believe they all sell them.
