I've found several smokeless loads for this cartridge, but have yet to find a bullet in the 300-350 gr variety that carries enough lube to the end of the muzzle. My rifle has a 28 inch tube... Short in terms of normal bpcr barrels.. But lacking the bullet length to have the normal 3-4 large lube grooves.

viscosity and makeup are more important than volumn.
run the lube wetter/softer.

You might look at using a lube cookie as well as using a softer/wetter lube. Try using wax paper wads between the lube cookie and the powder wad and boolit

have a look at lyman's reloading handbook,pages 96-103.
Mold suggestions there are #457191 and #457122.
I shoot 1876 uberti 45-60/ bl 28''.
Hope this helps

300 grains, should be enough lube for you. Available from www.whyteleatherworks.com

I cast the 457191 at 25-1 with spg an 26grs of 5744 . Accurate load. the same bullet an lube over 57grs of cartridge goex runs out of lube about 6 inches to soon.. Accuracy abysmal after the first shot.

Well, that was going to be the bullet I would suggest. Like Grapeshot said, maybe try a lube cookie? Also better powder would help. That CTG seems to really foul a lot depending on the lot number. Swiss or the new batch of KIK works a lot better in my rifles.
Blowing down the muzzle between shots goes a long way to helping things too. (I use a vinyl tube so folks don't think I am trying to kill myself at the range)

I use a blow tube on single shot cartridge guns.. I know there's a combo that'll work on my 76.. An that bullet looks like the ticket. I used Swiss powder in all my black powder guns ,especially flintlocks.. But they have priced themselves out of my league.
