I recently finished loading over 750 rounds of 30-30. Over 250 were loaded with a Lee 150 grain FN and BLC2. Was really very happy with the results in my rolling block and two Winchester lever 30-30 rifles. Then I just fell into another huge batch of 30-30 brass. Around 1000 more once fired hulls. And I just got the new NOE 311 165FN GC mold. I also have about 16 pounds of BLC2 left. So, as soon as I finish with the 38 special I have been working on, I will start loading this new batch of 30-30.

So....I will need a somewhat better method of unloading the newly loaded 30-30 ammo. A single shot and two lever action 30-30's are just too darned slow. Wonder if I can get me one of them there gatling guns made for 30-30. Could set it up in a tree stand and put out a bunch of hog food. Wonder how many hogs I can get in one setting?

Just daydreaming..... but I am tickled to have a bunch of ammo to take to the range this coming year.

I'll send my son by. He's REAL good at making empties. Pretty good at helping fill them back up too though.

HI,
What do ya mean he need some young shooters.
Bet most of us could make those into empties pronto.
A 1,750 30-30's & only 1 lever action would not even last the summer.:Fire::Fire:

I'll contribute two grandsons. They make my ammo gone real quick.

Just burned thru 200 rem old old yellow/green box factory ammo I got for $25. It lasted about 4 hours with my win 94. But that was interspersed with cooling periods to shoot .22s and ar's and muzzleloaders.
The gun was absolutely filthy btw.

john brownings first semi-auto was a converted lever action, with a little tinkering you should get it to run full auto.:bigsmyl2:

IIRC, that gun was full auto - an 1886 Winchester!

You could always contact that gunshop on TV located outside Denver (Gunsmoke). They build guns from scratch and would probably love the challange. I am sure you would love the challange of coming up with the amount of money they would want for it.

Nah, you just need to make a couple trips to Texas to go hog hunting!

He is in Texas. How about a prairie dog shoot with 30-30?

You need to try to feed 4 grandsons and 2 son inlaws in 45acp 357 mag 9mm
sw40 45 colt 44 mag 45/70 and 410. I dont have time to shoot.
Like to cast and reload.

hope you have a turret or progressive to load all that on

+1 on kids making your ammo disappear.

But then, that's why you make them make it: the ammo, the means to acquire the components, and then themselves for doing it as entertainment. ... felix

My problem is I'm starting to make ammo and don't have that many guns to load for and my dad won't let me shoot cast in his 2 guns.
My barber and the guy that runs the range convinced him.

I have two Dillon 550's, two RCBS rockchuckers, two of the little Lee open presses, a PW-2000 turret press, a Lee Classic Cast turret press, and plenty of other loading equipment. I pretty much have the spectrum covered. Even have a Star sizer with plenty of sizing dies. I have an order in to lathesmith for a .309 sizing die especially for the NOE 311 165 RF GC mold. Yep, ready to load for those 30-30 hulls.

I really enjoy shooting with young people. Ya'll go ahead and send them young'uns and grandkids. I'll keep them busy for a while. The range is just down the road a ways and we can do some skeet shooting, cowboy action shooting, and some five hundred yard metal plate ringing when the 30-30 ammo runs out.

Reckon the wife and I could also fire up the grill and feed them kids some good chow, too. Thanks to one and all for their responses to my daydreaming and musings.

Bubba machine gun. Gattling gun. Hmmm, makes my imagination run rampant. Flip the rifle upside down and modify from tube fed to gravity hopper/magazine feed, operate lever with a crank, and poof! Texas Hogbuster model 12. Probably ought to make the barrel watercooled. Personally, i always thought a 12ga with 00 Buckshot was a poorman's machine gun. 9 round burst every time you pull the trigger. Frank

Shucks ya just turn the rim off cut a groove and viola' 30 Rem for your model 7 Rem semi auto . You can size them cut the necks for 6.8 Rem and 7.62-39. That'll speed up consumption a bunch.
