I've posted in this section once before when I discovered the fun of using black powder in an old L.C. Smith hammer shotgun. The Smith is an excellent old gun, but has some bore pitting and it IS old.

Is there any manufacturer that makes a safe, affordable hammer gun OTHER than all the "coach guns" out there, something with full length tubes? Perhaps a longer version of a "coach gun"? I really don't care if it doesn't have the grace and balance of a fine shotgun, as long as it functions well.

Thanks Chicken Thief! 28" tubes would be just about perfect for what little hunting I do (jack rabbits). I'll dig around and check on prices. The wife is gonna scream when she finds out that I've "pre spent" our tax return.

I've also discovered that a Stevens 235 hammer gun in decent shape can still be affordable, even these days....

and the search begins.........
