The weight is 110 in ww what do you all think this will be in pure, just wondering.

i shot the tc 32 maxi today in a bit of wind in my Crockett with 20g of Trip7 FFF. It shot 1.5" at 50 yards for a couple groups (5 shot). The 2nd group had the first three under 3/4".it looks to be a winner. Now just have Erik Ohlen HP it and it would be a killer small/medium varmint bullet.

the samples i sent him were pure lead.No clue as to what ww would cast but it cant be too much heavier in a 100ish gr bullet.

I got one from Ballisticast for Christmas. They make them out of steel. It turned out very nice.

Thanks skeeter2, I'm glad you like it! We have them available in .32, .36, .45, .50, and .54 cal. in 2-10 cavity iron molds.

I'm very close to getting my TC cherokee out of lay-away. Just how much is a .32 ballisti-cast 2 cavity mould?

Fishman you can go to the top of this page and see the Ballisti-Cast Logo. I think if you click on it it will take you to their web site. It is a fairly easy site to navigate around on. You can see all their prices there. As I recall they have recently lowered some of their prices. Its got me thinking about one too.

original on the left
Accurate on the right

Grooves are shallower on the Accurate and the nose is a bit flatter.Tom told me it would b this way due to his tooling limits.it weighs 110g rather than the TC @ 100g.Exactly as Tom said it would be. It is spot on dimensionally for the TC band dia. and length. This weekend i will run it out in a 32 Crockett.

The Accurate mold is a work of art and the mold got to me 5 days from the time i paid for it.

Ii am sure tom at accurate would add a 40 maxi to his catalog if he had a sample.I sent him the 32 ans it was in his catalog the day after tt arrived.

I may HP it Jeff.

Cast in pure, with that nice flat point, I don't think a HP would add anything to the design other than casting difficulty. S/F......Ken M

just a small dimple to start expansion works well in soft stuff at lower velocities.I would like to try to stick one in a coyote I would have hollow point mold service an inset bar conversion and it will cast as fast or faster than a non hp version. You have to use one to believe it!

I do agree the FP is probably adequate though.

How long is the Accurate 32 Maxi and what twist is your Crockett. I've got a Green Mountain 32 sitting in the shop waiting to put on a underhammer might just have to get on that project.

HARRYMPOPE

1-48 twist stabilizes it fine at its .600 length(this is the original and i have yet to shoot the copy yet). So far i have only shot one load of 20g of triple 7 FFF with a musket cap(no chronograph data yet)and it does 1.5" at 50 yards for the good groups. If i stopped at the first three shots then many were under 3/4".Its been cold and windy up here so i hope to get out in better conditions.I have used it mainly for offhand at an 8" 100 yards gong rather than paper punching.i will be shooting some serious groups at 50 yards tomorrow with the new mold.

Well no good news today with the mold.it wouldn't group 3 feet at 50 yards.I then more carefully measured the bullets. The rear bands are .004 smaller than the original. The original sample was out of round quite bit so it was hard to guess at the "real" dimensions. If one is ordered it needs to be .320 or so on the drive bands and .325-.326(maybe it could be bigger?) on the nose.
Erik is going to open it up for me.I'll report back in a week or so.

Try and paper patch it. That is what I did with the .40cal Minie Glen sent me. It cast in 40-1 at .396 so I didn't even shoot it. Patched with 9lb it measures .403 and shhhhooooots.

HARRYMPOPE

good idea on patching.Did you omit the lube when patching ?

JeffinNZ
02-13-2012, 05:42 PM
I patch a dry boolit then when the patch is dry I lube it with a very small amount of neatsfoot oil. I get my hands slippery then fondle the boolits to lube them. Kinda satisfies two needs at one time.........:-0

Tom has offered to make me a new one and has corrected the code.I'm going to try the paper patch idea from Jeff first.

I would like to try these in my .32 Cherokee. I'll post a WTT for some of the new dimension versions or the Ballisticast. I have a lot of pure lead.
