I need to make a holster set for a guy with a Colt SAA clone, two actually, and can't find a gun close to use to make a pattern.
I have a friend with a a cut down Ruger Blackhawk in .44 Magnum, so it's the right barrel length, and another friend with both a Ruger Vaquero and Bisley in 45LC, which is the caliber of the Colt clone I'm building the holsters for.
After googling til I'm dizzy, I can't find a definitive answer on this question, which is;
Do a Ruger Vaquero and a Colt SAA clone use the same holster, granting the same barrel
length?

In a word, no. The Rugers have a larger frame, and the SAA clones will be a sloppy fit in holsters made for them. The New Vaqueros have a smaller frame, but I don't know if it's the same size as the SAA.

The New Vaquero is very close to a SAA, if not almost exactly. My Mernickle PS6SA fits both my New Vaquero and my Uberti. The original Vaquero is larger as it is based on the Blackhawk.

Thanks, fellas, what I wanted to know. Have to scratch a little deeper I guess.
