The bushing on my CH4D Champion press drives me crazy. It always comes out when removing dies. I was think about Loctiting it in. Any downsides to this? I doubt I'll ever need to remove it. What type of thread sealant should I use?

Thanks.

Use the blue loctite, or a couple drops of fingernail polish will work. Bill

You may have to remove it. You never know. Maybe some teflon tape would work mo' betta'.

There are different types of Locktite. You may consider one of the milder types. A little bit of heat, a good saturation or overnight soaking of PB Blaster and Locktite loses its grip.

Be sure to clean the threads, and degrease both surfaces. You might not even need the thread locker.

Green, blue or nail polish. Will not hurt a thing. Of course proper TQ of the bushing will more than likely work as well.

Red Loctite is supposed to be permanent. However, it will release with heat. Like from a propane torch. With repeated use, the lesser Loctites (purple, for fasteners under 1/4" in diameter and blue, for fasteners over 1/4" diameter) may not hold up.

Good Luck

I went with Blue Loctite. Cleaned the threads with carb cleaner, applied the Loctitie and torqued the bushing down. I'll report back in a year to let everyone know how it held...or sooner if it comes loose.

If you use "blue" , medium strength, you will be able to remove it but should keep it fast
for die removal (as long as you don't use such a long pipe wrench to install them.). :)
