Check these out! scroll down 13 odd rifles from the top! Knuckleduster levers?

http://usedguns.com.au/used_Lever_guns.html

These are obviously custom rifles made for the Lever Action Target Matches held here. There are stock classes and open classes. They use proper target sights, etc. Not my cup of tea, but different strokes for different folks.

Odd looking ducks indeed. More unbeliveable is the price for the "plain Jane" Winchester lever .22 with scope listed just above the competition rifles, $980!!! Must be gold plating on it somewhere with diamonds set in the stock?Robert

FFOD, my dad used to say, "Everyone has their own thing going." In this particular case I would say that the previous owner of those 9422s certainly had their own thing going.......

$250 for the 92 in 32-20. Reline that puppy! It looks pretty good. There was a nice 307 sans the safety, Marlin 1899 in 44-40, 99 in 30-30!! Most of the decent deals are already pending though.

Someone spent a lot of money making those 9422's so ugly.

Different bird for sure, but there were some nice rifles listed.
Have the regular blue henry 22s gotten that expensive.

HaHa! Good one.

The very expensive 'stock' looking 9422 has about $500 worth of target sights on it and the foresight would be worth $200 easy.

The custom ones have pretty expensive sights as well.

As I said they look like they have built for the Lever Action Target Matches we have here. Nothing to do with the Cowboy/single action shooting, just an Aussie discipline.

The classic match is ok, but the fancy rifles in the Open category are not my preffered style.

One thing about the competition is that, slings, shooting jackets, etc are not permitted.

I have been meaning to give it a go for many many years.

Agreed about the LWFB, adrians. No idea what I'd do with it but I'm glad it's not sitting in a used gun rack nearby. As for ugly guns I'm partial to pretty guns as well, except for an ugly old Ruger MKI .22 pistol and one or two Winchester 670's.
My black rifle and riot guns are ugly too but they're social equipment, sometimes ugly is an advantage.

Ugly is good if it is sinister as well! Nasty, sinister, scary firearm looks are often enough to get the response you want from a wrong doer.

Agreed. Have gotten excellent response with both a patrol rifle and a riot gun, guess that's why they get to hang around.
Went to a shooting call at a quaint little place called the Funky Onion more than a few years ago. Chambered a round in a Winchester 1200 as I cleared the door (I know-LATE!) and all I saw was hands grabbing for the ceiling and packs of Kool cigs tucked in waistbands....and yes, they were all in the bathroom when the shooting happened.:bigsmyl2:

I did not see an ugly 9422 or even an odd looking 9422 in that page?

Here's mine, 350 euros I gave for it, made in 1974:

HDS the odd looking ugly gun is likely no longer on the site.

What brand is that tang site on yours, and how do you like it.

It's a Marble tang sight, the "improved" model with swappable stems. A feature I honestly have no use for here. I really liked the setup I had on the pictures with a globe sight but it was too high and the stem I got wasn't tall enough to work with it, so I reverted to the factory front sight. It works very well though.

IMO the setup feels a bit flimsy, the stem moves easily but Marbles says it will return to zero thanks to spring tension, I've not had any zeroing issues except when my take down screw got loose and made the stock the rear sight is on move around, tightening that back down solved the problem.

Works fine on a .22, but for my .44mag rossi I got a Williams FP sight waiting to be installed instead.

I need something to help my eyes on an old 94 30/30.
I like the looks of that sight, but am more concerned about function. Thanks

350 Euros was a power of money in 1974, but they have never been cheap. The tang sight looks good and would work a treat.

I never had enough money for one when they first came out and the used ones I have seen were the plain versions in 22Mag and the owners had a pretty unrealistic idea of their value, so I never ended up getting one.

If I had one I couldn't stand that barrel that sticks out a tad longer than the magazine, looks all wrong to me and I'd have to lop it until it was even.

Sure in 1974 it was a lot of money (though that was some years before I was even born and we had marks back then), but I bought the rifle in 2006-2007.
