I found a pair of these Sharps rifle embryos yesterday.;) They're not quite fully developed yet, but I'm hopeful that they will mature into healthy, meaning large caliber, full grown rifles in the next couple of years. Almost all the parts are there, so far all I've found missing are the firing pins, extractors and the front trigger for the set triggers. and of course barrels and wood. Now to decide what caliber.:?:

Are they original? or modern? The parts should be easy to find, good luck with the build and post pictures of progress.

Don't know if you have an oak or a walnut tree, but your nuts are bigger than mine ...

Elk Hunter:

Where did you obtain the raw castings from? I'm very interested.

A local guy that I occasionally do business with has several sets available, he bought them from a defunct builder. They are 8620 steel and should color harden quite well. They have some surface rust, but they wire brush up easily.

If any of you are interested shoot me a PM and I'll get the particulars to you.
