I'm in Canada and it's difficult to find these rifles right now. The beginning of the year is always a bear for getting firearms and supplies in my neck of the woods.

How about in the US? Any problems buying a new Model 92? I've got feelers out trying to locate a blued 357 version of same.

Nope, there is a gun shop 30 min away from here that has at any given time at least a half a dozen Rossi M92's in the rack of various cal's and barrels. He told me a few weeks ago that the 357's are a bit harder to get sometimes but he can still get them within 2 weeks of order placement if he doesn't have any on the shelf.

Best wishes,

Joe

They have been very difficult to get here in my neck of the woods.

I wonder what the hold up is? I was told that rifles destined for Canuckia go through the US. So wherever the warehouse is in the lower 48 must be running low.

I've got its twin in 44 mag, but the thing is lonely for company.

I got one (24" blued 357) last spring, and continue to see them in California- they are running about $450 new-

Couldn't find one in 45LC....so I saved a little more and bought an Henry Big Boy, guess I'll be doing the same with a 357.... unless I find a pristine 375 Marlin, in the mean time. Gun show this weekend, you never know.

303, if you run into a brick wall finding a Rossi, email or call Steve Jones. Here's his rifle web page ... http://store.stevesgunz.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=10_12_4

Main Page ... http://store.stevesgunz.com/

He is a gunsmith in Texas that specializes in Rossi's

Thanks John. Unfortunately it would cost too much for the export permit. It's a $350 fee that goes to the State Department on top of the cost of the rifle.

I've got one shop here that is checking to see when they can get one in. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I just put a 20" 357 on layaway yesterday at the local Gander Mt. store here in Pa. It was the only one they had.

I just got a 16" ss44mag Mon night. There seems to be a fair amount around here. I'm planning to take it on a bear hunt in Canada in June. I think 310 WFN should work ok.

It will do the job. I got the Lee mold last summer. You'll be happy with it I think.

Rossi levers availabilty seems to be a supply issue. When I bought two last year I had to keep checking the internet using Google Sale unitl I found one and then had to jump on it quickly. You'll see that all the merchants are out of stock and then in stock at the same time. BudsGunshop.com now has a 357 in stock which wasn't there two days ago when they had a 45lc.

Check out Davidson's Gun Genie, it's a big seller of the Rossi 92. Too bad you can't deal through them. You can use the web site to see how fast they move.

I had to keep a close eye on the site to find mine,a 45 colt, I wanted a 24" rifle with the case colored receiver but had to settle for an all blue version.

I'll bet you the .357 move even faster 'cause of the cowboy action shooters!

Hang in there and keep looking , you'll finally score!

I saw a used one in 2007 and still kick my self for not buying it. I have seen one new one since. They don't stay on the shelves long and a lot of the MT franchised gun shops don't carry them. They don't get pawned much either.

Yeah, I'm getting the impression that these rifles are almost rationed out to the public. The company must be doing alright if they are always in demand.

A couple of days ago, I checked in at one shop and asked them if they could be had. The fellow that does the ordering is supposed to get back to me shortly. He is on vacation.

Where I live, Rossi Model 92s sell for $525. Marlin 1894Cs are $569, so prices are close. The Canuckian dinar and the US dollar are at par, so it's interesting to see what you guys are paying!

I own or have owned three Marlin levers and they're great, but I like the look of the 92s.

44 mags are a dime a dozen (well more like 500 dollars each, but still very common), nothing else to be had right now.

Just my luck, a rifle starts working its way up my want list and price goes up, availability goes down. For some odd reason I don't own a 92, never even handled one. I'm still pretty firm on my resolution of no rifles purchased in 2012 (for 27 whole days!) but reckon a slick little carbine won't count, right?

There was a '92 in .357 pre safety at a local gun show this past week end, asking price was $300.
Estimate condition around 95%. Large show and that was the only .357 rifle I saw there.

303british.com Freedom Ventures is the importer up here and I have talked to Sean., the owner. He just can't get them from Rossi. simple. He has guns on back order for over a year. You might want to shoot him an email and let him know what you are looking for. Once the long gun registry is eliminated some of the import cost might go down.....

There always seem to be Rossi 92s at one of the local shops, usually in 45 Colt. Pricing is in the $550-$600 ballpark, possibly due to the VERY active CAS group locally.

Hi Bob. I wonder if he cannot get them because there are none to be had or if it's there is a minimum order requirement. Is he the sole licensed distributor or is he just a business that has placed a minimum order? I'll have to ask at Epps where they get their product from. Larger businesses like Le Baron or Wholesale Sports can easily make up an order.

On the other hand, Pedersoli only shipped if there was a minimum $20,000 US order. Because of that, smaller businesses like Shooter's Choice in Ontario could not give their customers a delivery time. I've seen it go two years. A friend ordered a 9.3x72R double rifle and it was over two years before he received it! Crazy.

In most cases, small businesses have to buy from a CDN distributor or charge big bux to their customers in brokerage fees. I think brokers like Questar will get you anything - for a price. I'm not willing to pay over $1000 for a Rossi.

Freedom Ventures has a large order in for them for some time. The problem lies with Rossi and their production runs. Sean can explain it better than I can. I know it isn't from lack of effort on his part to get then guns into Canada. I have been looking for a 16" Rossi in .44mag or .45Colt now for some time. I think I may just buy one of the Mares Legs and order a full buttstock from the US. I was quoted $125. for the buttstock. I think this might be the ultimate pack gun for up here.

Thanks Bob. I'll make some more inquiries. If I cannot find a 92 in 357, I'll get a Marlin. The rule is, as soon as I commit to the 1894, a Model 92 will appear out of the blue! :)

I waited for an entire year for Steve Young to get a case color .357 in stock from Rossi. He said that the Rossi's were in very short supply in general - zero in the supply chain, so what ever was on store shelves was it. I got lucky and Steve got a blued 24" .357 in stock by happenstance, which I snapped up immediately. When it was all said and done I paid almost a grand for it - complete action work, stock refinishing, upgraded parts, stupid safety delete, 3 pound trigger, Marbles tang sight and Lyman 17 globe. He set it up for Lever gun silhouette, and I got my hands on it in November - it is now one of my favorite rifles shooting 158 grain greasewagon boolits over 3f black powder.
