Mossberg 464 30-30

Anybody have one of these? I'm looking at one for sale at calguns $350 with a 180 rounds of ammo.

I've handled them and like them except for the safety. I just can't understand what someone would need a safety on a rifle with an exposed hammer.

Around here, .30-30 ammo goes for about $16 a box of 20, that makes that ammo worth almost half of what he's asking. If the rifle is in decent shape, I'd jump on it. Always room for anpther .30-30.

If I get this one then I can have a Marlin rebarreled or relined to 38-55 ..

I have had mine for about two years and got it $299 on sale. It is a sweet shooter with cast boolits. I bought it as a knock around truck rifle not expecting much at that price and was very pleasantly surprised. Even with the factory iron sights I can hit pill bottle caps at 100 yards with regularity and milk jugs at 300 (with my old eyes!). I just wish there were more aftermarket items like peep sights specifically for this model but that may come with time. I am certainly glad I bought mine. My current load is 15.5 gr of 5744 and the Lee 160 gr RNGC.

135 bucks here for the ammo, so that leaves 215 for the rifle. I would say it would be pretty hard to lose out, if it turned out you didn't like it.
