Hi everyone been thinking about buying S&w model 53 22 jet . I always though they would be a great small game gun . I already have dies need a mould and gun any one have one 4 sale

This is one gun where jacketed may be a better choice.

I've never tried cast in mine. GLL has a good suggestion.

I had great accuracy with cast in this cartridge out of a Tender. My hunting partner had a S&W and all I gotta say it to make SURE that the chambers are clean and dry.

My old Lyman book says 38 grain cast 225107 or 225438

I've got a 53. For full power you need jacketed and a clean/dry chamber . I got a Bator from Midsouth and am intertaining the idea of a 22lr power load for cheap shoot'n . I also have the SS inserts to shoot 22lr rimfire as well . Seems like I got the brass from Huntingtons a few yrs. back . Thanks Gerry for the download .

I REMEMBER the muzzle blast in 1970 of a "Jet". Please wear hearing protection...It will rattle your cage....!

I shoot cast in my S&W all the time and once you get it figured out the accuracy is quite exceptable. Of course you can't shoot them near as fast as jacketed but plenty fast enough to do a job on small game.
