Hard & castable silicone, hardens in 15 minutes, good to 600oF. So you turn an experimental bullet profile out of aluminum or brass on the lathe, coat it with this stuff and let it harden. Have a cup of coffee, and come back and its ready to peel off in the exact shape of your bullet. Cast it with linotype which melts under 450oF, and make yourself a bunch of bullets for testing and load development. When you get the design that performs as you like, then you have the real mould made.

Have you tried doing this?

I used castable silicone to pour lead for Marlin lures but never tried it for boolits. IIRC - The silicone that was available at the time did not hold up too well.

Will be keeping an eye out for your results.

Cool. I wonder about making a more permanent mould out of the super-high-temp stuff. Might have to make a full mould mould and cast a sprue plate screw, alignment points, and handle mounts into it.
