HI all, got offered an electric hot plate, that is 2400w. Will it melt my alloy? Will give it a try, nothing to loose!

It shouldn't have a problem melting lead. The Lee 20 pound pots are only 700 watts.

Yes it is 220v and 2400w. I have a Lee 20lb 700w pot also, just not sure if the hot plate will transfer the heat into my steel lead pot, which i would like to use to pour ingots with. Got nothing to loose i guess.
Thanks so far fellas!

bullbarrel,
I would think that at 2400 watts that it should work great. I started out on a 1000 watt hotplate. It was slow but it worked.
Good luck, jmsj
