I have a barrel action, a Sako chambered in 6MM PPC tight neck, .262. I realy don't want to turn the cartridge necks down. I'd like to redo it with a standard 6mm ppc. and shoot cast. Being that I will only be enlarging the neck porsion of the chamber I think I should be able to carefully hand ream with out removing the barrel from the action. My only concern is if the pilot will extend fare enough to guide the reamer at the start. The neck is .290 long on the new case. I should be able to feel when I contact the shoulder. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

These two have done work for me and I can say they do very good work.

Opening up a chamber neck is no biggie! Call Dave Kiff at PTG (Pacific Tool and Guage) about what you have planned. He owns both a company that makes reamers and a company that rents them. If you are just doing a single rifle, RENT the reamer and have at it' By using a neck reamer instead of a chucking reamer you won't risk lengthening the neck length beyond specs or cutting the chamber deeper because the reamer won''t cut the shoulder.

+1 - I personally like tight chambers because you don't need to resize when reloading and concentricity is assured. Not to mention that brass lasts near forever.
