Just got a couple Lyman 45s and some other stuff on a trade and was wondering what they are worth. 1 has die and punch and the other one doesn't. Going to clean them up this weekend and check them out. Anything I should be looking for? Don't need them as I got a Star and love it.
Thanks
Dave

Last two I bought I paid $20 and $15 dollars for.

For a more realistic quote look them up on E-Bay and see what theyre selling for, not asking but selling. Or try Gun Broker.

Usually, they go for $40 to $60 unless there are parts missing/damaged.
many times on evilBay they go for $100 if they look like
new and/or come with a handfull of dies.

One thing they are worth, they are worth using.

Bought my #45 about 50 years ago, never had a problem with it and still going strong.

I paid about $50 for each of mine, shipping included, within the last couple of years from different members here. They were both in very good condition with all parts (no dies) and no rust. I've passed on several for $70 or more, but not everyone does.

look for cracks by the set screw , abnormally wore main tubes and problems around the base of the piston screw .... as well as cracked/ill repaired handles/levers

as for what are they worth .... usually 40-60 ,really nice ones as stated are worth more , ones with boxes, instructions and oem tools ( like the chapman wrench ) add a lil to the value , my limit would be around 100 for a REALLY nice one - box and all

what they are really worth is as hang fire stated - they are worth using !! while not the strongest they are IMHO the best ( especially for lil 22's and pistol boolits that do not require massive resizing ), lacking a star it's my first choice

Would you be willing to donate, swap, or sell to me for a good price one of the 45s? I would like to fix it up and donate it to Dustin, a young man who one of our members (Ben) is helping get started reloading. Here is the link to that thread:

I would take the one in the worst shape. Pm me if you want to cut a deal.

Just got a couple Lyman 45s and some other stuff on a trade and was wondering what they are worth. Have you checked prices on eBay? They are sold there frequently

I gave $45 shipped for mine to someone on this forum.

I wouldn't sell it for twice that. :)
