I just slugged the Cyl throats and the barrel on my sons Ruger 44 mag SRH, we have twin SRH with 9.5" barrels. His will take a boolit sized to .430" mine is .431" My luber sizer is set up for the .431" and I will just get a lee .430" sizer and resize the bullets he shoots rather than change the sizer in my 450
His barrel was much more uniform than mine was, it took very little hand lapping to take out the tight section of the barrel where it screws into the frame compared to mine. Will be weaning him off the J bullets and on to the cast Boolits:Fire:

Why not just soot some of the 0.431"s in both guns and see what happens.

+1 - Unless the .430" boolit doesn't fit in the chamber. I really don't think you would be able to tell the difference in accuracy with a .001" larger boolit. Loading it into a tight case will negate the difference anyway.

The .431 won't chamber in my sons SRH, thus I will have to size them down to .430"

Do you have any idea what the barrel groove diameter is? You might want to consider reaming the cylinder of your son’s gun to .431”. I have a DW744 that had very tight chambers. After reaming it to .431” with a reamer I got from Brownell’s, it is the most accurate .44 I have. My .44 Rugers are all in the .431” to .432” range and they shoot very well.

Will the cartridge chamber most of the way but just not fully seat? If so, is there maybe a front drive band on the boolit which extends out from case mouth that is maybe preventing full chambering of the cartridge? Another boolit style could possibly solve that particular issue rather than sizing differently?

His barrel slugs at .429" and yes a differant stye bullet would work, but we will stick with the one I use in my SRH.
