There is a lot of good feedback on accuratemolds.com and I've been thinking about buying for quite some time. Has anyone developed a mold with Tom specifically for the Rossi M92 lever gun in 357? That's my favorite coyote and steel plate at 100 yard gun.
Thanks.

I bet if you e-mail Tom and ask about it he could either recommend something or design one
he's like that
I worked with Tom on the 45-300G. I found that the nose length for heavier revolver boolits wouldn't cycle through my 45 Colt Rossi 92 and asked him for a 300 grain GC that would be "Rossi happy". The RCBS 255 SWC barley cycles in mine.
He emailed me to look at the newly created 45-300G in his catalog. I ordered it and in short time was making boolits. This boolit has a .360 crimp to nose, cycles great and I used it on the deer in my Avatar.
I think Ranch Dog is doing something for the Marlin 357 lever action. You might want to look at that too.

Before you go off the deep end with heavy bullets in the Rossi 92 .357 be aware of the 30" twist. I have run the Lyman 358429 173 swc accurately at max loadings (1600 fps+) but it will not shoot well in the mid range or slower. The Lee 125 is the most accurate in my 2 Rossi's in the 1100-1300 fps range (2-3MOA)at 100 yds. I had no luck at all with the NOE 180 gr WFN at any speed. Good luck what ever way you go.

My last mold was from Accurate Molds for my .41 mag. and I love it. Before you order the mold, slug your Rossi barrel to determine the groove dia. and order a mold that will have sufficent cast dia. so you can size 1-2 thousands over that groove dia. On my mold I requested it to drop .413 dia. bullets using wheel weight alloy. It was right on the money and accuracy is great out of my Ruger flattop .41 mag.

Yes, I've also had trouble getting bullets above 125 grains to really do well. The thing seems to like the plated bullets best - but we can't have that! It just calls for my trial and error....
The Ranch Dog 357 boolit is a thumper at 195 grains, not really meant for the Rossi's slow twist.
Hey guys, is it the over all length of a boolit that affects stability or the bearing surface?
Or in other words would a 173 grain wad cutter be more stable in 30 twist barrel compared to a 173 grain semi wad cutter?

Yes, if the lengths were the same. But, in practice the lengths won't be the same. Also, the velocities must be the same to have a valid test. The nose shape really comes into play as the speed of sound is passed through. ... felix

I think my question was concerning two boolits of the same weight but one being shorter like I could see a wad cutter being more short than a SWC. Your right the speeds would have to be the same to be valid.

See "Greenhill Formula" on Google for some guidelines to boolit length and twist rate relationships. The Greenhill "constant" of "150" sort of assumes a velocity of 1800 FPS, which is the ballpark the pistol caliber leverguns play in.
Specific to Accurate Molds--I ordered two of their tools 8 days ago. They arrived today. THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE.

i use the lyman 452664 in my rossi 45 colts.
the lyman 429667 in my rossi 44 mags.
and the equivelant 358 lyman in my rossi 357 in 357 cases. [i had the equivelant rcbs but fat fingered it in my younger days]
they all feed and shoot as well as a levergun should, and have shot them from 1k up through 1650 fps.
the only non lymans i use in a levergun is the magma 200 gr in my 44-40,and a rapine 72 gr in my 25-20's as the lyman was a bit too heavy.
they all seem to be just a bit over saami length in thier respective cases, but are just right for the rossi 92's.
