I compare a Colt Sheriff's Model revolver chambered in .44-40 WCF to a Charter Arms .44 Bulldog revolver.

I like the Colt much better!

I like the looks of that Colt.

I have an original BP frame 1873 Colt "Frontier Six Shooter" in .44-40 with 7 1/2" barrel. (was just sitting here fondling it) My normal load is 33 grains of 2F BP under a 200 grainer, even with 33 grains BP, it does speak with authority.

The colt looks cool but I think the bull dog is a more practical CCW weapon by far as it offers faster reloads and DA for rapid fire at close range,

To each their own. I'll never give up my BD.

I love the Charter Arms products currently being made. Got my wife the Pink Lady .38+P for her carry gun. I reload for them, so we get to practice a good bit. I love the look of the Colt, but carrying a stick to knock out the empties isn't very tactically sound when the .44 special is available now. Carrying the Colt would be great for re-inactors though. Typically, I'd hope that 5 would be sufficient anyway. lol

Just having a gun is better than 95% of the population that don't carry. Not too worried about capacity or reloading, most defensive situations are at close range and with only 2 to 3 shots fired.

If things look really bad, I get a rifle.
