I bit on a Police trade in Smith and Walther 990. I got started with a 175 gr Lee TL. What seems to be the most common weight for cast in the 40?

160 to 180 grain. I am currently working on on loads for an Accurate 160. It looks like Silhouette, Super Field, or Super Target might get the nod.

Most of the truncated cone molds will fall between 170 and 180 grains. My preference is for the truncated cone as close as I can make it to 180 grains as I use them for IPSC competition. Never had a feeding problem with them. If you want a lighter bullet they are for the most part a semi-wadcutter close to a truncated cone. There is a lot of load data on the Internet for cast .40s. Compare everything to the well known commercial reloading manuals. The .40 is running at magnum pressures so work up carefully.

I will look at a 6 cavity 175 in the future but the 145 Lee looked intriguing. The group buys are for rn bb and I am not sure I want to go that route just yet.

My 175TC 6 cav mold from Lee casts great.
8.5 gr Blue dot is very accurate in my XDM40...dale

LEE has a 150 gr mold, but it is only available as a two cavity.
It is a boolit I'd like to try, but would prefer the Six Cavity model.
When I spoke to LEE, thwy didn't see having it available as a six banger for the forseable
future.

I have the TLSWC that has been trimmed to the first groove and they drop at 158 gr.
I like a lighter for the .40 and IMHO, the heavier boolits are best for a 10mm.
