Have always driven 50 miles to a gunsmith who has a trigger pull scale.
Now do to wifes health problems cannot make the trip, nothing that can be done there it is just old age!
Have a scale I used to use to set the drag on my deep sea fishing reels.
Can it be used for checking trigger pull?
Not going to change anything just wanted a guestimate as to what it is.

A pound of pull is a pound of pull, it should work just fine.

You might check it against a few different weights in the 1-10 pound range first. It is nice to know the scale you are using to check triggers is somewhere close to correct.

You could also bend up a coathanger or other piece of wire to hook around the trigger, and bend back under the backstrap so the weight is centered under the trigger. Add a small pot and slowly fill with sand or shot until the trigger breaks, or any other means of adding small amounts of weight... then weigh the rig on a kitchen scale (or a reloading scale if it's got enough capacity).
