I have a Lyman 4 cav. 358495 mold that needs handles. I have read the stickies above and I never found an answer to my question which is, what are the advantages of the new style compared to the old style. I plan to make my own handles, because quite frankly, I think $30+ dollars for a set of handles is too much for my budget. So, I would appreciate some feedback from anyone who has experience with the old style nutcracker handles. It seems that that style would be easier to fabricate than the plier style of the new design. Thanks for any comments.

I do not like the nutcracker style handles. I bought Lee six-cavity handles -- about $12 from Midway -- and modified them to fit.

I find that the new style of handles are much easier to use than the old style. To modify Lee handles to fit the Lyman 4 cavity moulds will require a lot of work with a file or a bench grinder.
