How come when you look at these reloading books they all show differant twists for the barrels, they all say there testing is with tc contender 30-30 barrel for onebut they all show diff.twists, hoarnady shows 1 in 14,nosler shows 1 in 12 and speer shows 1 in 10 tc shows all barrels pistol or rifle at 1 in 10 so where are the manu.getting tc barrels in all these diff.twists. Another example is 45-70 tc says all 45-70 contender barrels are all 1 in 14 when I called but there twist chart shows pistol 1 in 14 the rifle is 1 in 20 I checked my rifle it is 1 in 20.

IIRC, the early 30 herrett bbls where 1 in 14, later ones are 1 in 10( I think). When in doubt, check it yourself.

TC typically has a tighter twist that is for shorter ranges, as long is we're talking about cast. Their selection of twist and chambering is made to open up bullet choice.

A TC Contender is usually extremely accurate, with it's own brand of sizing and recoil. You can bet that a Contender has more recoil per grain of powder than a rifle or semi-auto. Contender fans also enjoy wildcats as a standard, can't say that about any other handgun. It's the Ultimate Hunting Handgun- with it's own set of rules!

i'd imagine that t/c is talking about current production and the differences are in the older production ( but entirely serviceable old stock )

The 30 Herret was initially designed for lightweight boolits in the 110 - 125gr range. Silly Wett shooters and hunters who wanted to shoot heavier boolits got poor to dismal accuracy. T/C then changed the twist to 10" to satisfy the majority of shooters. They used to swap the barrels out at no charge, I sent them a 10" and 14" and got the faster twist. It worked great with the LBT 180's that i was using at the time.
