I am considering buying a can of H-110 for reloading 410 shotshells. I have come to learn that H110 is a wide range powder. I'm just curious how this powder can be used. I reload .44 mag, .38 / .357, 12 gauge, 20 gauge, 30-06.

What role would H110 play in my load choices ?

What "example" load data do you use for these rounds with H110 ?

H110 is an excellent choice for 410 44mag 357. a little slow for the rest. May do ok in cast 06

I was hoping to reload .410 with either my HS-6 or Clays, but, I don't see that a favorable combination. So, I want to see what other calibers I can use this H110 for besides .410

Used it for .30 carbine. Used it for full power loads in .357. Don't load 410's
I have since gone to 2400 when loading up .357 on the diminishing times that I do so.

After trying several suggestions on powder choice, I used it for Revolver Silhouette shooting because it was the mos accurate powder I found for the 44mag.
I also found it to be extremely accurate in 357mag.
The thing is,,,, the powder was only accurate up around max loading levels. Not cheap to shoot.
Because of the huge fireball out the muzzle, my 44 Dan Wesson with a 10 inch barrel was most impressive to shoot at night. Plenty accurate though. I shot several groups under 6 inches at 200 meters with it.
In my opinion, it is lousy powder for cast bullets unless gas checked..

I have used H110 for years as my "go to" magnum pistol powder. It is NOT to be seriously downloaded. It is only for near or "full Magnum" loads. Within it's range, however, I don't believe anything can top it for full power loads in the .357, .44, and .45 "Magnums".

Win 296 is the same powder.

There are 2 newer powders on the market designed mainley for the 410 shotshell they are LILGUN & 410 advetised as being superior to other propelents for the 410 shotshell.

As mentioned, be sure you recognize that H110 does not work well when downloaded below
the book loads. Basically, it needs to be running at about 80% or more of full throttle.

I use H110 for my M1 30 carbine loads, and for my heaviest 44 Magnum loads, and rarely in heavy 50AE loads. I do not use H110 with light load charges, or reduced charges.

My lighter 44 Magnum loads are most often assembled with Unique, or Alliant2400.

H110 would be a good choice for heavy 45Colt loads, But I have never loaded 410 or any other shotgun shells with it.

I use A2400 or IMR4227 for my light plinking pistol 30 carbine loads as well. I have used Accurate Arms #9 too, but I just don't use AA#9 all that often.

I seem to be having the best results so far using IMR4227 with my light 50AE loads.

If you don't have a few loading manuals to cross reference data with, I would strongly consider purchasing some. The Lyman manuals have both cast and jacket bullet data, and some very good information on loading in general in them

You can also take a look at Hodgdon's online Reloading Data Center and compare powders a bit - like H110.

I have a can of it sitting here for the time when I actually get around to loading some 30 Carbine ammo. From what I've seen its the go to powder when you want to get the most from your magnum handgun chamberings

H110, like stated several times above is excellent for magnum pistol loads. 357,41,44,45LC .454 etc.

It should NOT BE USED FOR REDUCED LOADS !!!! This powder needs high pressure to burn right, and needs to be loaded near full case so that flashover cannot occur and casue pressure spikes. Use Unique for reduced power loads.

It is also a very good powder for .410 shot shells.

In fact I have been looking for a nice .410 OU to shoot skeet with for some time, because I have an 8lb jug of H110 I will never be able to use it just shooting .44's .

I see no other use than magnum pistol cartridges, .30 carbine, and .410 shotshells.

It is NOT suitable for 12 or 20 ga.shotshells or large rifle cases.

I use it in the 44 Mag. Actually I use W 296 but H-110 and 296 are the same powder and data is interchangeable. Accurate #9 and VV110 also have similar applications.

I've always used 110 in my 44. I plan on using it in my 454 for full power loading.
As mentioned already Do Not Use this if you are planning for reduced loading.

Did an extensive test awhile back on 44 loads. Won't bore you with the details but H110/W296 gave the most consistent velocities in all loads. As stated above, it operates at MAX all the time. I have skeet shooting friends that always uded it exclusively in .410 loads until LILGUN came out. Good luck on your loads. You are right, this is the best bunch of guys on the net for loading and equipment help.

357 and 44 mag full house. I like 2400 if not running gas checks.

Like kweidner said, it rocks for max .357 & .44 loads.

I've never reloaded or even shot .410s, but H110 seems unbelievably slow. I have loaded tens of thousands of 12 gauge 2 3/4 and the slowest powder I ever used was Blue Dot. I loaded maybe 150 rounds when I first started shotshell reloading and didn't realize it was a hot 3 3/4-dram equivalent load. Everyone on the skeet range would ask what the hell I was shooting. Except for a box of 1 1/2 oz turkey loads, I haven't used anything slower than Green Dot since. One box of turkey shells will last me 5 years and aren't worth reloading.

There are no applications for 110 in 12 gauge. 10 and 12 gauge turkey loads I load use Blue Dot. It works well until it gets really cold outside. :)

Take care

I use H110/W296 in my RUGER only 45 Colt loads, 22gr's behind a 300gr boolit will get your attention.

I like Lil Gun for 410 hunting loads. I have also used it in 357 Mag loads. http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp Hodgdon has an excellet reloading data page that I use often.

When I went to 110 I had tried 2400 and maybe I was doing something wrong but it
seemed to spit a lot of unburned powder out of my 5 1/2" ruger redhawk.

Howdy !

.357Mag RX:
14.5gr WW296 ( H110 same stuff ) and SP Mag primer under any Lyman .357 calibre SWC of 158 - 172gr.

Don't have to be GC bullets w/ this load.

Same load works in both revolver and carbine ( mine... loaded w/ c.o.a.l. to fit S & W " N " frame cylinders.

Don't forget H110's twin W296, they are both ball powders and several reloading data manuals recommends magnum primers for magnum handgun and some rifle loadings ,because they are harder to ignite especially if loaded down, as previously mentioned.

never could see the one size fits all thought on gunpowder anyway but if you insist on using one powder to do a bunch of things dont pick 110. Its a great 410 powder and a great higher pressure powder for mag pistol rounds but its not a good powder to be experiementing with reduced loads or cast bullet rifle shooting.

+1 Lloyd. I prefer unique and 2400 for pistol experimentation. Even like 2400 for some rifle applications. H110 has it's place. I could get 95% of my stuff done cast wise with the above mentioned two. If I am pushing J words, I like varget for non magnum and re22 for magnum applications. Not to say I don't use the other dozen or so I have on hand, but, those 4 would be a bare minimum set up for a many a combination.
