Today I ordered the Lee 358 158 RF mold. What are some of your pet loads for .357 rifle? What kind of groups should I expect at 100 yds with carefully worked up loads? I hope to use this load in Lever-Action Silhouette, pistol cartridge.

..............I have the mould in 6 cav but the only 35 cal rifle I have is a 35 Rem and I've yet to shoot the slug in it. Not a very interesting or exciting load but in my Ruger BH 357 mag I sure like 4.5grs of Red Dot and that boolit, yowza! Pleasant and very accurate in my revolter.

With a 358156 Lyman (160 gr), I use 13 grains of IMR4227. With the 358-180RF group buy bullet, I use 12 grains of IMR4227.

Loading 357 Mag in my Marlin '94 I get about 1400 fps with the Lee 158 RF casting quenched WW weighing 159 gr using 8.6 gr (over published max) HS6, 9.1 gr (over published max) W540 (old lot from garage sale), 9.2 gr HS7, 8.7 gr AL-7 or 10.4 gr AL-8. These are not recommended loads.
Best 10 shot group with this bullet I recorded was 3.75 inches at 100 yds. Must have been my lucky day.

I use 6.5gr HS6. It is like shooting a .38 special. I've just started messing around with H110. I used 13gr and got a 10 shot two inch group at 50 yards.

My favorite. That one works very well through my 1894. I use 8 gr. Blue Dot it's not real fast but accurate. The best I've done is 3 in. at 100 yds with 5 shots a little more with peep sights. Thats on a good day and their coming farther apart.
