Had a chance to shoot with a friend who had two levers in 44mag and we had some fun popping tin cans at 35 yards. As far as print out both rifles shot the same on targets. One has Ballard and the other microgroove rifling. A lot of talk about the riffling in these Marlins---I personally have shot mild and hot loads in the micro grove and have never had a problem. When I first heard of the micro controversy I thought of the rifling in my 45 Auto (what rifling) so shooting lead in the micro was never a problem for me----Mag

It depends on the rifle. I have had trouble with 44 Mag Micro groove barrels leading but I suspect that the barrel may have been over .430 groove diameter. I have shot thousands of boolits through my 30-30 and 45-70 Marlins with MG barrels without a problem and great accuracy. So a lot depends on a proper sized boolit.
