Hello everyone! I'm new to casting and just got my equipment in today. I took my new Lee .530 round ball mold out of the box a few minutes ago and was disappointed to see some scratches in the cavities. Is this to be expected with these inexpensive molds or should I send it back? Thanks everyone!

Maybe Shirley had a hangover that day...

Welcome, both as a CB member and a fellow Hoosier.

Send it back. A few light concentric rings might be expected in a cheap mold. That's way too much to put up with.

If you got it from Midway or another ebusiness you can send it back to them. Call and check. If not you'll probably need to call Lee and share your problem with them. Their service is usually pretty good.

Send it back.

mine had just too much flashing and scratches in the middle drive band on a .358 158 gr mold

I've ordered several roundball molds from LEE and they never looked like that. Send it back.
