Looking for a small quantity of bird shot (12) for reloading some 357 mag capsules. Anyone know if that possible w/o having to buy 5lbs bag?

Moyneur,

I see you're new here, welcome aboard.

Hate to say it, but I've never seen #12 shot for sale even in the specialty reloading catalogs. I use #9 in my 357 and 44 shot loads and can speak from experience that they will disassemble a rattlesnake at ten feet or so. Never tried them on anything else.

12 shot is only used in the type of ammo that you are wanting to load.
We first loaded it in the 70's before the ready made capsules were available. I know of no source that sells it in any smaller bags.
If you are just curious to see how they shoot in your gun then why not buy some CCI factory. They are not that much for 6 rounds.
I'm not giving you a smart answer but only giving you the information that I have. Why not try to get another shooter go in with you or post a want to buy under the selling forum?

A long time ago, I think on Shooters.com, someone bought a 25lb bag and parted it out and sold smaller containers. I got one of those then. It might be appropriate for you to do it again. I'll bet you aren't the only one wanting to do this.

I've purchased #12 shot before, but I've only found it in #10 bags, and if I remember it was close to the same price as a #25 bag of #7.5.
