I did a search but didn't find anything. If I need a BHN of say 20 in a plain base bullet what would I need with a gas check? Could I drop to say 12 BHN gas checked?
Thanks
Dave

Donno. What caliber? What load? What, what, what?
But if you swaged them outta copper, wouldn't they be all gas check? :kidding:

OK Sonny Ya got me! Load is for a 500 S&W but I would think the caliber wouldn't matter for the question

You can generally shoot softer alloyed cast bullets with GC's.

I shoot WW+2%tin/lead at 50/50 out of my 357, 41 and 44s magnums at 1400+ fps. That alloy runs 9 - 10 BHN on average.

Well, Ima greenhorn, Dave. But I know these fellers need more meat to get them up and off the porch.

500 S&W. Hefty round!
Now the guys who pop the big calibers will probably start feeding the thread.
I know there are several.
Let's keep fishin and see what swims by. ;)

Meanwhile....

Whoa! There's one of the big ones!

Thanks Larry My water drop stuff runs around 12-15 on average so with a GC I should be OK at 1500fps
