pics are not great but does anyone know what these are. the mold is marked 245496 but they weigh 121grn w/ my alloy. they mic .2455 so I can use them but I looked at a reference in cast pics and they dont look like the reference pic and that mold # is supposed to weigh 84grn.

My alloy is a little softer than lyman #2 but not enough to account for almost 40grn

Got a good pic of the mold?

Looks like someone drilled the nose of the mold to make it longer/heavier.

My camera dosen't have good enough res. to get any real detail but after reading your reply I took a closer look at the mold and thats what it looks like. You can see the marks in the end of the boolit as well. I just hope I didn't trade one mold I couldn't use for another. The rifle they are intended for is a 1964 win. mod. 70 and I think it has a 1-10 twist jus hope it will shootem straight. I kinda like the nose profile for deer hunting and whistle pigs

Wow, how long are they? I predict stability issues with a 1/10, but I have an Obermeyer barreled AR15 with a 1/8 twist that might like them. Let's see, a .8" long cylinder of lino would weigh 100gr, a 1" cylinder 126gr, so I'm guesstimating your bullet is about .95" long, give or take a little. Stability calculator says it'll stabilize at 2050fps out of a 1/10. PM sent. Depends on the calculator you use, i tried another that says it'll work in a 1/10 at 1600.

got your message and after I try them I'll let you know, I don't think they will do well as they are close to an inch but I like the nose profile. If the guy who drilled it out would have just stopped a little sooner it would be perfect.

Good deal, they'd be close to duplicating the bullet out of the old 6mm Lee Navy, which was originally a 135gr bullet, later changed to 112, so midway betwixt the two. The rifles used a fast twist however, 1/6.5 initially and later 1/7.5. Out of curiosity, what's the nose diameter of your boolits tuckerdog?

Using a dial caliper they are .235

I'm willing to bet someone modified it for this purpose.

Most modern 6mm barrels have a .237" bore diameter. My Obermeyer is .233" Might still work for you though tuckerdog, never know till you try. A .235 nose didn't work too good in my Obermeyer with it's 5R rifling really, but that boolit didn't have much in the way of driving bands.
