Why Grandpa carries a gun
scroll way down
PEOPLE ASK WHY?

Why Carry a Gun?
...
My old grandpa said to me 'Son, there comes a time in every man's life when
he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and
usually it's when he becomes too old to take a whoopin.'

I don't carry a gun to kill people.
I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

I don't carry a gun to scare people.
I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.

I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid.
I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil.
I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the
world.

I don't carry a gun because I hate the government.

I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

I don't carry a gun because I'm angry.
I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating
myself for failing to be prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.

I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on
a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy.
I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man.

I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones
they love.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate.
I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am
inadequate...

I don't carry a gun because I love it.
I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to
me.

Police protection is an oxymoron.
Free citizens must protect themselves.
Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the
crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take
an "***" whoopin'.....author unknown (but obviously brilliant)

wow. nothing more, nothing less. And I got to a certain age and had those *EXACT* thoughts.

I know a bunch of guy's that put up there homes, their livelyhood, and their lives for me and mine. Makes it kind of easy to make a decision concerning what I kind of "lint" I have in my pockets, knowing what state I live in. (The one where only 3 Governors in the last 50 years have *NOT* done jail time.

I doubt if a guy would want to jump up and whup on a granpa from ill, banking on the fact it is illegal to carry.

It's a shame this is not more compact. It would be great to print on buisness cards to hand out to the gun haters in the world when they start on why guns are bad.

Unfortunately, my experience of "gun haters" has been that they are remarkably devoid of the faculty of logic. Good luck arguing with them.

Like I've heard before.
If you understand, no explaniation is necessary.
If you don't, no explaination is possible.

Even if there were no bad people on the streets to protect ourselves from, there is a government out there growing, growing and growing. They no longer have a healthy fear of the populous.

My sister and I OWN our 72 acre farm. There are 44 tilled acres, about 14 acres of bottom scrub and 14 acres of woods that produces little income. My house on it is over 150 years old. It is valued at $30,000. I could never sell it at that price. We pay $170. a month for county property taxes. Then there is creek assessments, taxes on electric, phone, dog, income, sales, capital gains, fuel, tires, death etc, etc! Now they want to tear down our three local grade/middle schools( Built circa 1960) and build one new one to replace them! If we don't do this we will LOSE the 40% that the Fed Gov is going to GIVE us. We will only have to find the other 60%. Other close communities have fallen for this and built huge wondrous schools with pools, theaters, basketball, football, baseball, tennis, golf etc courts only to be hit with additional operating levies afterwards.

The street thugs are not my fear!!

That's where I'm at too. Bad hip, reovering from a second stroke. Luckily, my gun hand wasn't affected. To get to me or mine you're gonna have to dodge a hail of 45 ACP.
