Just wondering if anyone has taken the 30-30 up to 35 Cal? I know I could pick up a 35 Rem but I would rather go with a 94 action and a rimmed case.

No big deal but wondering if it could be done and what it might take.

Thanks guys.

Thanks, Ben, for the info. It was a good read. I saw some late model 94s for around 300.00 and was thinking.

"well I got a 32 Win - don't really need a 30-30 hmmmm, what if?" and here I am asking .

It sounds like it would have promising accuracy and some more punch.

I think you'd like it, and there are MANY MANY .35 cal. pistol and rifle molds that would be suitable for your rifle.

Did one for a customer a while back. I grabbed the wrong liner when I was relining his 30-30 and installed a .358 liner. I was going to drill it out but he said he was always wanting to try a 35-30. So that's what he got. I will check and see if he has published anything about it.

I called JES rifle reboring and he happens to have a Marlin 336 35-30 on Gunbroker. It has a 14 twist, 3 grove rifling. Buy now is 425.00

Here's the info from Mr. Ed Harris on the 35-30.

Cartridges of the World, 7th Edition has article on p. 189 which lists the following data:

200 JSP 25.0 IMR4198 1925 fps

Following chronograph data is from the Winchester 94 you did for me.
Winchester cases and standard WLR primers, NO CASE FILLERS!
Redding die set has long, tapered 7-1/2 degree expander which easily necks up .30-30 once-fired in one pass. Recommend mouth re-anneal before expanding to prevent splits.

RCBS 208-gr. 35-200FNGC

Hope this helps.
