Sears Ranger 103-2 22 Long Rifle

Hello all,

I have had this rifle for a very long time, my father handed it over to me about 30 years ago. I understand that this is the store brand of the Marlin Model 80. Is there any difference in the parts?

The stock sights work and the gun is accurate but my eyes have a hard time getting the rear buck horn style sight aligned.

I had one of those for a while, It was old enough that it had conventional six groove rifling instead of microgroove.

Does yours have the scope mounting grooves, or are there holes already drilled and tapped for mounting a receiver sight?

As I recall, there were some differences, but I can't remember what they were. The receiver profile should be the same, so depending on whoch sight you get, you might need to drill and tap it for the mounting screws.

According to ProofHouse house brand conversion chart it is the the Marlin Model 80.

No mine is not tapped or drilled at all. just the buck horn rear sight and the front post sight. Mine is the micro groove barrel. In my box o stuff I found a Redfield peep sight that will fit. Going to bring it to my gunsmith to have it drilled and tapped.

There are original peep sights for Marlin 80 on Ebay fairly regularly.

base was on the rifle when I got it
Numrich had the knob, elevator scale and windage base and aperture.
the adjustment arm was made from scrap in the shop and about and hour with vise and mill and small piece of drill rod.

So a magazine for the marlin model 80 would be interchangeable for the ranger model 103.2 also?

Should be. No guarantee there weren't manufacturing changes during production.

This is Ranger M34 which I believe is a Marlin 80C.
I have had it for 28 years since my neighbor died and I got it at the yard sale for $35.
To put sights on it, I drilled and tapped to put Weaver #43 scope bases on it.

I found a peep sight like that one in post #6 in my fatherinlaws stuff and eventually put it on a Remington 511. It works well and looks okay but it is not original, of course. I know he had a sears bolt 22 that he had a scope mounted on. Not sure where the rifle went.
