I have been casting pistol boolits for I would say over guessing 15 years. Many ,many boolits. Played with 30 cal rifle boolits some but not much untill last yr when the FIL gave my 6yr grandson his 336 30/30 and I embarked on a quest to make light cast loads. Well I had so much fun on this journey I got hooked on levers. Always had pumps and bolts and called the little levers kids gun and girl guns for Pa deer hunting. I had bought a 30as for myself that was shot six shots from a former neighbor that won it in raffle that kept it in a closet for 17 yrs. for 200.00 bucks. My new want was a 45/70 cb for long range plinking steel. My lovely wife of 30 yrs gave me a receipt Christmas for a cb that our local shop could not find one do to Rems QC issues. My second pick was a GBL and he had one over 100.00 cheaper new. I called and he said he just took a trade on a NIB GBL that I got for another 100.00 cheaper, 444.00 , I got a better deal yet. Now my cast hobby just got bigger. :D

Hi Kliff

I just got in off of my run this morning and seen your post. I only got 3 shots offhand in the back yard a few weeks for function and feel. I t felt good and reliable so far, everything worked. I just went up yesterday morning and ordered a lee 405 mold and dies, gas checks and lyman sizing die. I have a marbles peep and lee flaring die coming also. I will get a good bench lead tryout in a few weeks and will update this report. I am still trying to figure out which RD mold yet 350 or 425. I will end up with both eventually. I have his 165 30cal mold and the 30as loves it.:castmine:

I tried a few 405 Lees over 10 grns unique for function in the back yard. I think I am going to up the dose in 1/2 grn increments up to 14 and head for the range on the 3 rd sunday this month. It clanged my clanger at 25 yds an didn't penetrate an old shovel head. It flew 10 feet tho. I slugged it at .459 and the Lees dropped at .459 and I aloxed them. I also put the new williams sight on the 30AS to try with some RD 165's. OH well some one has to do it.
