Well I annealed 300 pieces of brass, made 300 cores and swaged all of them. Next I started sizing them.

At 295 I broke the handle on my RCBS press.

Should I buy another or make my own? Would hate to buy one just to have it happen again but sure don't need another project as small as it is.

Call RCBS and I'd bet money they will send a new handle, no charge. Their stuff iis guaranteed for life.

Let me know if they do not. I have an extra one laying around somewhere I think.

True, RCBS will replace it. However, if you broke one... You might look at some of the alteration designs that have been posted here for strengthening ideas and make your own at some point. Since RCBS will replace it you don't need to be in a hurry. In my life that's a blessing.

I know I'm kinda late to the party; but, "broke the handle"? Which press were you using. Even when I put a cheater bar on my RC2 (first one) to swage 20 gauge slugs the handle never even bent much less broke. I am interested in what kind of failure you had with the handle. Break, crack, bent, main body of bar or threads, etc.

RCBS partner press. It broke at the top of the threads.

That press is a little UNDER-powered for swaging. You might expect to break a lot of parts.

You might consider a RockChucker press as a better swaging solution.

Agreed, but until I wear it out I don't want to buy another.
