Does anyone out there still cast the old 121 grain Lyman #358242 bullet? I am looking for a decent small game bullet for my Outdoorsman and I picked this mold up pretty cheap (little single cavity mold).

I do but use it mainly in the 9mm. i have two DC molds and would not want to be without it.

Same here on the 358242....mostly in the 9mm. It should do really well for small game such as squirrels, rabbits, and the occasional snapping turtle in the .38 Special.

I've used the 358311 weighing around 158grains a lot in the .38 Special for that purpose but that's way more weight than you need. But, it was what I had at the time./beagle

I've got a 92 grainer two-cavity and a 4 cavity 121 grainer. I have used the light boolit in 38 Special training loads, but never the heavier one. I have used the little 358-345 SWC on rabbits and ground squirrels. However, I see no reason why 5.0 grains of Unique wouldn't make a dandy load for plinking and small game. Lyman lists standard pressure loads up 5.7 grains Unique in their 3rd Edition Pistol and Revolver Handbook.

Have used it a lot for a long time in the 9mm. Also in the 38 special. It casts easily and works well in both. It probably will do well on small game out to 50 yards. LLS

I have the light boolit version, but it casts too small to be useful, sad to say. I wanted
to use it in .380 ACP, but terrible inaccuracy due to undersize. I should beagle it, but have
not had the time.

Has any one tried the 121 gr wc version in 38 spcl with Trailboss? I have been toying with the idea and just have not had the time to experiment yet. Thinking of it as a training round for a potential LCR.

Thanks.

My 358242 casts at .360 and 122~123 gr. It's very accurate over 2400 or SR 4756 in my Security-Six. My best 9MM boolit.

Saw your post ( posted 4 years ago) about the Lyman mold 358342 that seems to case small which is a problem for your .380. Take a look athttps://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=401356

You may have too much lead in your alloy, causing the bullet to be small.
