I collect military rifles, here's what the wife got me for Christmas. It's a 98/09 Argentine, at least 98% for both wood and metal, all matching numbers and the crest hasn't been ground. I haven't seen one this good in years.

Super rifles... I have one that I bought off of the trader at gunboards. It's so cool to get these unissued. Such finely made rifles, I can't believe they were made to be carried through trenches and mud....

Wow! Your wife have a single sister? :)

I have a 1909 Argentine long rifle but yours looks to be in a little nicer condition.

I looked for sometime back between 2000 and 2005 for one with an in the white recieiver in fine condition. Finally found it in 2005 and only recently got around to shooting it. Craftsmanship on these rifles is astounding.

Enjoy it!! :drinks:

Great rifle! So many of these were ruined by importer re-chambering to ".30-06" (so actually a 7.65x63mm).

I have a 1909 Argentine cavalry carbine. The bore is like a mirror and the exterior metal is nice. The stocks are worn sanded and patched.
The guy I got it from used it in the Old Soldiers matches locally.
I have little trouble hitting golf balls at 85 yards with it using the SF 80 Milsurp ammo.
I have very few rounds left of a case of 1,400 that I bought about fifteen years ago. Don't pass up a chance to get some of this ammo.
Seems strange that all reports on this ammo say it is no good. Mine is like target quality.
I also shoot it in my 91 carbine but prefer to load cast for that one because of the blast. These old Mauser made guns are the pinnacle of the gun makers art.
