I have a .32 Traditions DeerHunter rifle that I scoped years ago for tree rat hunting. I have always used .310 RB's with a patch for this gun, but, the idea has finally struck me to try using a .32 cal pistol bullet in this gun. My question is, has anyone used a .32 pistol or rifle bullet in a .32 rifle ?

I am curious to know some outcomes on the usage. I have a mass collection of .32 (.310) RB's, but, I want to try the bullet angle in this gun.

I've never tried but, you know, it does sound like a good idea.

The twist rate probably isn't fast enough. I tried some in mine and it didn't fair well but that still doesn't mean it won't work in yours. Give it a try and let us know. I also since purchased some 32 cal HB bullets for a pistol that I though I would give a try just for giggles. Might work better being they are HB.

I just noticed that I titled my thread wrong. This is a Traditions DEERhunter, not BUCKhunter. The BuckHunter is my .50 cal pistol. Sorry for any confusion.

i have a deer hunter in .32 also, and have fiddled, succsefully with the discontinued lee .314 wadcutter, paper patched. the biggest problem i've had is you need THICK paper to take up the difference between bullet and bore! as for rifling twist speed being too slow, i've found it frequently is a matter of testing the rifle in question. i have a 1 in 66 twist kentucky rifle in .45 from cva that loves the lee 255 gr. round flat nose bullet. common knowledge says it shouldn't work....but it does!

My theory is to stuff the .32 bullet down the hole with a lubed patch and be done. I just need to locate some .32 bullets and give them a shot.

My only concern is ripping a tree rat in half, which is not what I want to do. The .32 RB/patch I use makes a nice kill without making burger.

It's a nice rifle, shoots great with Pyrodex P powder, you can not use RS or T7 in this thing, too many dud fires.

Now where can I find some .32 boolits.

I cast the RCBS 32-98-SWC and a LEE 90gr RN for my 32 revolvers. Don't know how they would work as a patched boolit but if you would like to try some let me know.

How about the speer hollow base wadcutters? If they are of a diameter to load without too much force, the hollow base should expand to take the rifling.
Come to think of it, might try that in my T/C Cherokee .32 cal squirrel rifle. I believe I have some of those speer bullets in stock.

I have a T/C Senaca in 36 that I have used 38/357 boolits in and they worked quite well. Not patched.

I have the same rifle also. I have a maxi ball mold, and it shoots them great. I think it is 104gr. My rifle is a 1in48 twist, and is happy with PRB or maxi.

i have a 32 Crockett coming and will try the RCBS 310 Cadet bullet as well as their 8mm Nambu and the Ideal 32359.Those should be big enough to shoot pure lead naked?
Also a buddy offered to make me a maxi for the 32 once i get the dimensions i need.
