Anyone use a Lee 185g .312 in 30-06? Have a M1917 that likes the Lee 160g TL sized to .311:bigsmyl2:

I do, the 312-185 was the first mold that I bought for use in 30-31 caliber rifles. Mine drops ACWW at ~.313" so I can easily size it down to .311" for use in my M1917. It is usually the first boolit I try in a new rifle.

I have the mold and have a rem 788 in .308. I my gun the nose of the bullet is too large and the throat on the gun too short. When loaded the bullet is pushed over half way into the case. The nose on my boolits measure .303 - .304 when cast from ww, which is about .003 too large to fit the bore (or would that be lands?) of my barrel. Hope this helps

I've tried that mould in both .30-06 and .308 and encountered the same glitch as brotherdarrell; no problem sizing down to .310-.311 but nose diameter is just a bit oversize for either...at least in my guns, that is. If you're looking to try a heavier boolit, the 200-grain Lee might worth a try. It's the same design and my mould drops just a hair over .311 with a .301 nose using my pet WW/Lino alloy.

Tha may be why I have good luck with it, the nose on mine is .301-.302". Plus I am primarilay shooting it in a M1917 Enfield, a Parker Hale 7.62 take off barrel and a 2A1 Ishapore. Which are somewhat larger than commercial .30 cal barrels. The Ishapore has a looooong throat.
