I just put a new 1894C on layaway at the local gunshop. Realizing how much I'm going to shoot this thing, I had a question about powder.

I have 12# of the SR7641 (SR4759 clone) pulldown powder and was wondering how well it would do loaded under 180 gr. gas-checked boolits.

Anybody have any experience with this powder in .357's out of an 1894C?

tnx ahead

.............SR4759 is kind of slow for the 357, isn't it? I know it's a slower number for the 45 Colt. If you want to use the SR4759, getcherself a 30-06 and load 22.0grs under a 180gr or heavier cast boolit :-)

K8bor,

Yes I have tried 4759 in combination with a 158 gr. Lyman Cowboy Bullet (163 grs. in w.w + 2% tin)

Velocity in the 24" barrel was 1,472 f.p.s. with a 12 gr. capacity load sparked by a WSPM primer.

Accuracy was excellent - groups in the 1" range @ 50 yards.

Have fun,
