Okay, we can have a little fun with this, but why not this for a melting pot? Brand new, stainless steel, not so bad price...

Looks like it would make a great ladle-casting pot with a propane burner underneath, I really like the apron around the top.

The description says, "• Fitted top cover. 8" diam. basin."

That means it will probably hold twenty pounds very comfortably.
But, being a "bedpan", it might cause you to get 'crappy bullets'.

I use, and have always used a SS pot over a coleman stove to do all my casting. I use an old RCBS bottom pour aluminum ladle to transfer the silver stream.

The very best melt pot I have for doing ww and casting ingots and cannonballs is a Cast Iron Water kettle. It is heavy, it has a swing over lid, and a nice pour spout, and a wire wrapped handle. I find them here and there at second hand stores and yardsales for usually about 10 bucks. I use them over a propane burner or Coleman stove and it will hold about 25 pounds of Pb.

I think that SS pot would work fine. I use SS cocktail sauce cups to pour my lead in when I'm done casting. Makes nice little ingots for the next round and I don't have a big muffin tin in the way. The sauce cups stay right in my trip pan. I usually only end up with 1-2 cups of lead, so, it's a compact product. I have used the cups many times and the lead does not stick of course.

I smelt in a SS pan well kind of a pan. It came out of a food serving table burner was under it and heated water another tray sat inside holding the food. Its kind of thin but transfers the heat great. I use it on a old mil cook oven unit that they used for baking if I understand it right. I do use some angle iron under it to help support the weight since it well hold two buckets full of lead. After i remove the clips I let it cool down until its solid then add another bucket. So I have to say SS is just fine for me.
