First off, I love this site! It really makes me want to use cast in everything, so that leads me to a question. Does anyone have a lead on a 6.5 mm 160 grain round nose mold? The heaviest I can find is about 150, but want to use the heavies in my new encore pistol. Idk if I need to go the custom route or not but if anyone has a mold could I pay for some boolits? Just to see if they will be accurate?

Thanks for helping out a boolit newb, I have tons of expierence with jacketed bullets but not these PB guys. Once again thanks for your advice and guidance!

A while back Midsouth had some Lee 6.5 molds on sale for around $20 bucks or so but they had a flat nose and they dropped around 170 or 175 grs. IIRC. I can send you some of them if you want to try them first. Mine are gas checked and I have some made up that are lubed and of course gas checked. PM me with your mailing info if you're interested.

Unless Lee has fixed it, all the moulds they sell through Midsouth run about .271-2" at the bands, but they do drop about 174 grains from my mould and Hornady gas checks fit the shanks just fine. If you can size them down without bending them you're good to go.

Fishinbob,
If they are sized to .265 I would love to try some, I was actually hoping to find a flat nose bullet. I will check out midsouth and try to find the mold. PM on the way!

Unless he has chenged again, Accurate won't cut anything under 30 caliber.

Ok, if these bullets are casting out at .268-.269 can they be sized down to .265 in a lee push through? Or will I have to step them down?

Thanks everyone for your help and sorry for the noob boolit questions!

..............The boolit design for the 6.5mm at Mid-South is the one on the right. It originated here on Cast Boolits as a Lee Group Buy, and was then offered to Mid-South. I believe they have 5 designs that began life here. The smaller Loverin type in the photo was also a group buy here.

It was inspired by the old Ideal 128gr design tagged #1 above. The smaller group buy was done in a set of 6 cavity blocks. Alloy variences will give you a slug of 130 - 132grs and .268" to right at .270".
