I use an old cast aluminum dutch oven pot to tumble lube with. The sides of the pot get coated with the Lar's Xlox I use and it builds up.

Just outa' curiosity, I shaved some off with my pocket knife and put the slivers in the bottom of the pot with some new boolits. I used an old fashioned glass syringe to measure out 10 CCs of mineral spirits and squirted it in the pan.

I started swirling the boolits in the pan and the slivers of Xlox immediately began to disolve and coat the boolits. I repeated this and got a good coat on all the boolits.

I don't know how much Xlox or Alox I have wasted in the past by scraping the pan and throwing out the scrapings. I won't be doing THAT anymore!

When it builds up Jim I do the same thing you did and add some mineral spirits to the gunky pan and swirl around for a little while. Sometimes this is enough lube for my boolits or I can give it a light squirt of Xlox to refresh it.
