I got a pound of leeks from my neighbor that I get deer for. I made soup right away, simple recipe.
One large onion, two stalks of celery and the leeks, chopped.
4 TBLS of butter in a pot. Dump in the vegies and cook until tender. Pour in 2 cans of chicken broth and a can of turkey broth. Bring to a boil and then simmer an hour. At the end pour in about 2/3 cup of cream.
I had 3 large bowls right off with a sandwich.
I would like more recipes for leeks if anyone has any.
Also looking for root vegie recipes.

I like to cube up bacon, cook it along with chopped leeks. Eat over rice, with soy sauce.

I like to put them in my chicken and dumplings. Both the stalk and some of the tops for color.

Great, sounds good.
I finished a whole quart of my soup yesterday. The wife was mad as hell this morning because the bedroom stunk. I didn't tell her about the gas! :bigsmyl2:

leek and potato soup with ham.

Or leek and vegetable soup.

heck I put them in the last batch of Red Beans ( and rice).

If you cannot tell for me they fit just about everywhere that an onion would go. Haven't tried them on a hamburger as garnish though, they do go well if mixed in the hamburger and grilled .

Yum, I love the things. I love cabbage, brussels sprouts----maybe I should say I love food. ;)

By all means, add potatoes. Also a carrot, 1/2 tsp basil, white pepper. Makes for yummy soup.
