RD,

I have been playing with the RD 285 gr .44 mould and was wondering what loads you shoot with it in .44 mag. I have been playing with WC820, Unique and 2400.

Hi Bigscot,
Not RanchDog here but here's what I found. The RD boolit is the best one I have for .44 cal.

I used 17.5 gr. Alliant 2400 for great grouping in a Ruger carbine I shoot.

Another great load was 20.5 gr. Win. 296 with that boolit.

That gun is probably not the best for cast boolit performance due to seating length issues etc. but no pig or deer will ever know the difference I am sure.

Newtire,

Thanks for the info. I forgot I also have a couple of lbs of 296. I have not tried it yet with the RD. I am shooting it in a Win Legacy 94 and a RSH.

I'm glad some body had some advice, I've just used H110 and H4227.

Hi Felix,
Mine is the Auto rifle. I saw it's cousin lever in the same gun shop a week later but had already spent my load of dough by then. I have to stick within a range with the auto so it will function. The leading thing is no problem & it comes apart actually quite easily. Pretty fun gun to shoot! Like my M1 carbine only bigger bang. I found a nice recoil pad by the way. It is not the $5.00 one you see on E-bay but another one by Pro-Mag. Takes the bite out of it shooting in shirtsleeves.
